“We live in the same world but still new slaves to the same old system, that ain’t never gone change “
Conscious Hip-Hop is not dead! Joie Kathos Is not your average female rapper- she’s a dig into your third eye type of artist. You have to open your inner self and see the potential in the life your living and everything around you. Kathos music is thought provoking music that makes you want to elevate to the next level of you. This young lady is not afraid to be real about the topics that the world faces. Issues that continue to be brushed under the rug until the dirt piles so high that something has to be done. I have listened to Kathos entire EP, Floaters, and truly it from beginning to end. I especially enjoyed “No Streets Peace.”
“No Streets Peace” does a great job of vividly making clear issues that many face when trying to better themselves while also staring at the hardships faced over their lifetime.
The intro, an soulful vocal, catches your ear making you want to know how this will play out. I love the fact that Kathos doesn’t see it necessary to rap about her sexually in order to gain fans but she’d rather talk about change, life, and bettering of the self. She’s totally right when she says “we have to get it on our own.” Although it would be nice to think someone helped you to get to every point in your life, ultimately, it’s your life and you’re the only one who can make changes.
Kathos talks about growing up without and yet still having everything. This vibe is very easy to relate to, especially during a time when many people living in certain communities are without many of the ‘things’ that others deem common such as stylish clothing, the newest shoes, a place to live, food and even parents.
I enjoy the positive vibes that Kathos gives and where they led my thinking. I am so motivated to get up and get out of my old self. It feels like its time to shed some of the old skin and step further into my authentic self.
If you want to hear more than just a great beat, Joie Kathos has THAT VIBE. Make sure you check out her social media to get her latest updates. She may be in a spot near you next.
