Do you have 20 minutes? Get rid of your eye puffiness ORGANICALLY!

As I approach my 30th birthday in less than a month, I’m starting to notice some things I’m not feeling. My number one right now are the puffy eyes. I have tried creme products that don’t ever quite do it for me. They either burn from irritating my eczema, they itch because I have sensitive skin, or they smell so freaking bad that I just want them off. sometimes I get a combination of all three, burn, itch and smell.

Well,  I found some great natural ways to help reduce the puffiness around my eyes. I know I don’t get as much sleep as I may need to but I don’t think I should have these big of bags. I know some of the blame is because my glasses broke and now I need new ones but come on, really?

The best methods use organic items, straight from the refrigerator. The first was with cucumbers and the second with avocado. I always have both of these items in my refrigerator so this was the easy part. I also love fresh fruits and vegetables. I use them for everything and it’s awesome that they have so much strength and influence over your body from the inside out and outside in.

Cucumber Method:


Step 1: Cut two slices of cucumber. You don’t want them extra thin. I cut mine medium size, for me that’s about an inch (about the length of your tip of your pinky finger).

Step 2: Chill the cucumbers freezer bag inside of the refrigerator (you can put them in the freezer if you are pressed for time) for about 15 minutes.


Step 3: Lay on a flat surface with the chilled cucumbers on your eyes for about 20 minutes.


Once you take the cucumbers off of your eyes you should see a difference. The hydration from the cucumbers is soaked into  your skin. It’s a natural moisturizer that’s cheap, easy to make and dispose of. I don’t feel guilty after buying them because they are usually under a dollar and they make a tasty snack. That sound like a win, win in my book. Make sure you have a rag or something to wipe your eyes off once your done.

Avocado Method:


Step 1: Cut two slices of ripe avocado. You don’t want them too thick because they may feel unconformable. If you cut them too thin they may not hold up. I try to cut mine about an inch thick. You can gauge for yourself on the size for your eye needs.

***It’s up to you  here. You can refrigerate the avocado or not. Either way, it still works, it may just feel better one way or the other for you.***

Step 2: Lay on a flat surface with the avocado on your eyes for about 15 minutes.

After taking off the avocado you will surely see a difference. I’m so excited about the natural moisturizers right now! I didn’t have to smell anything stinky, nor was I afraid of what may happen if it didn’t work.

These are just two of many great natural ways to get healthy, younger looking skin. With both the Cucumber Method and Avocado Method, you have to remember that other things help to maintain healthy skin to.

Drink More Water~Stay Hydrated

Drinking lots of water keeps your entire body hydrated from your scalp to your nails. I know this is just another fact that keeps hitting you in the face, but at some point you have to just bit the bullet and make time to take care of yourself. It may just be me but I’m super hyped that I found something I can put on my face without the second thought of breaking out, the smell, or being burned. I mean really, do I have to burn in order to moisturizer my skin? Nope, no thank you. I’ll stick with natural moisturizers from the ground. Check.

This little experiment opened my eyes into the aging process. We will always look at ourselves and see or imperfections but the reality is that things change as we get older. It’s okay. There is no age to start taking care of yourself and when you do it from the inside out the results are amazing. The cucumber method made me stop and look at me eyes as well as it made me take a few moments to myself to do nothing for anyone else and everything for me. It was totally satisfying.

  1. Great ideas. I’m going to make a body butter with coffee. It’s said java reduces puffy eyes and cellulite. Go figure…..wake up and less puff.
