Today’s pose for Day 4 of the #sistayogachallene is Sailboat Pose. It felt totally amazing!
If you have spinal injuries like me then you will want to make sure not to over stretch/twist your back. In the moment it may feel great but over twisting in th sailboat pose can lead to more injuries. The great thing here is that you will have you sista. Once you lock hands it’s is hard to over extend the twist but it can be done if your not paying attention to your form.
Remember that during these poses you are keeping your back tall and straight. You should feel like a string is pulling from the very top of your head helping you to readjust correctly.
There are many Benefits of the Sailboat Pose, here are a few:
- Improves digestion
- Strengthen the hip flexors, spine and abdomine
- Improves posture
We are just getting started with the #sistayogachallenge and I want you all to remain safe while doing yoga. Use your sista as a posture checker and you become hers. Make sure you are drinking lots of water (hydration equals flexibility with some work), eatting balanced meals and snacks in between (not junk food or fake foods please).
