Seated (Spinal) Twist- #IYOGLAXFLEXUARY

Hello My Beautiful People! Today’s pose, Seated (Spinal) Twist, reminds us that although life can be challenging, you deserve you try. You may try something new, and WIN! Living without trying new things, isn’t being able to live at all. Really let loose, relax into this twist and allow your mind to focus on nothing for a moment.

Step By Step Seated Spinal Twist:

  1. Start in a seated legs forward position, with your arms beside your hips. Bending your right knee, place your right foot on the outside of your left thigh flat on the ground. Its your choice to bend your left leg, placing it under your right glute or keeping it straight forward, toes towards the ceiling.
  2.  Exhale as your turn your torso to the right, taking your right hand and placing it on the ground behind you. Wrap your left arm around your right leg as you place your right hand on the ground (behind your sacrum).
  3. Inhale deeply, lengthening your spine, then place your left arm on the outside of your right thigh. Using your arm and/or elbow, press against your thigh, and twist on the exhale. Hold here for 4-8 breathes on both sides, releasing back to seated position.

Please be careful while practicing; If you have prior injuries be extremely mindful of every movement and how it affects your body. By now you know your body and the difference between your pain and your stretch, so again, be careful.

Along with being mindful while practicing, you also have to be mindful of what is going on in the inside of your body and mental/spiritual realms. You can work your body in such a positive way and still counter the positive vibes by not having healthy habits and/or awareness. Do not fight against yourself, find ways to incorporate wellness habits into your daily activities. Start trying new activities that engage all of your core muscles, and then some that you didn’t know you weren’t working already.
